Woot! I can hear the blinker on my Jeep again! My CI program was that BAD. :assimilate:

But...I was mystified (and pissed off to tell you the truth) when I found out that when I got my new Auria in Feb., 09 the previous Audie removed my HiRes programming and put me back on the old SAS programming! :thud: In other words I was not using HiRes. I recall her saying something like "since you have MS, let's try slowing down your processor speed and see if it helps you hear better" and I said okay because I had a relapse on my auditory nerve so it made sense. But I didn't know she was removing HiRes!! I would never have agreed to THAT. No wonder it took so long...she had to format my CI to go back to 16 electrodes instead of the 120 virtual channels.

Shortly after that my CI programming went bonkers but so did my life and I never did take care of it. I really have not heard right since then. I mean with Nicole dying, the felony trial with Daniel, all that... I simply shut down and didn't tend to that sort of thing.

Now I'm back to taking care of things. And to find out I'm on the OLD stuff???? :nope2:

Anyway I'm back on HiRes :yippee2: and woohoo I can hear again.

If my earmold ever comes in...I'll be sort of dancing for joy. :neener:

I can't believe how little I know about CI's now.

:happydance4: That's right, no more ducks! :happydance4:

In fact...I can't believe how bad things were. I am having to get used to hearing so much. Like the ticking-tocking of Alex's clock in the living room. It is driving me crazy right now! :lol7: I will have to turn the music on cuz I can't stand listening to that clock. Yikes...

Still no mold here.

You?

Still no mold here too. Very frustrated. The fair starts this weekend and I have to work in it Monday. With no hearing aid I will not be able to hear anything going on because of background noise *sigh*

Maybe it will be in tomorrow.... I hope

I did get good news though. Audient is paying for my other hearing aid! I just have to get my test results from the audiologist and take them to Beltone next week and I'll get another hearing aid free of charge :applause1:

Still have to get this FIRST hearing aid first though lol

I haven't heard anything either. I know I probably won't get it until Tuesday since this audiologist only goes to this office two days a week. He's at the other location the other days. UPS has already arrived today and I haven't received my phone call. RATS.

I do know it is a difficult skill to learn- making earmolds. It takes about 18 - 24 months to become really skilled. It's an apprenticeship. They can overprocess your mold, underprocess it, cut too much off, not cut enough off, and really...it's an art. I didn't know all that. Lots of parameters go into the design of an earmold.

You can give 6 people earmolds cast from the same mold and each one will fit/feel feel differently if you tried them on. I know....weird. When they remake the earmold, they usually use the same cast unless they think it's a bad fit. If you are really "in the know" you can request a specific person to make your mold. I did have the President of Westone email me back once and suggest a specific model number and told me to ask for a certain employee to make my mold.

I had no response this time when I emailed prior to my mold request so "customer service" has declined. :dunno: I mean geez.

:assimilate: I can't believe how DEAF I have been. Seriously, folks. :assimilate:

This morning I was looking out the window and Alex said something like "I need to go to Home Depot" and I heard the whole thing without lipreading. I was floored. He merely said "how about that" (he doesn't realize how DEAF I really am...well he does...but doesn't since I lead a rather secluded life and the deafies at the cafe are like me- they sign AND talk!)

I can't wait to get my earmold and finish the job. I am enjoying this new program. I am back on youtube and listening to old favorites and finding new stuff to listen to as well. :yippee2:

Yep it is! I can tell it needs a little fine-tuning though. One electrode is bugging me just a hair....I have it cranked all the way up so I will probably go back and turn that electrode down and turn the rest up a bit. Then turn the overall volume up. They like for us to have the dial at "noon" and I have it at the five o'clock position. :assimilate:

And the next available appointment is in September sooooo....

Earmold is still not ready. :thud:

How about you?

That is fabulous!!!! :happydance4: :happydance4: :happydance4:

The things we take for granted, like bells on the door. Yeah...I know what you mean.

Your audiogram is fantastic! Glad your earmold fit right off the bat! :yippee2:

I have my CI audiogram around. I'll take a picture of it. Of course it would have been a LIE on the duck program! :lol7:

Well, my earmold is in and they had me down for an appt at 5 pm yesterday. I had to cancel it because I had to go to the Neurologist PA yesterday morning. I only have so much energy for driving back and forth and Alex couldn't get back in time. I live out in the boonies...takes me 45 minutes one way to get there. Because I have MS, I run out of steam fast.

To make a long story shorter they are short-staffed (in reality they don't have enough business to maintain full-time staff) so I can't get my mold until Tuesday. And the receptionist is going to do it...if it doesn't fit well the audiologist won't be there. :thud:

This is with Miracle Ear. Oddly enough I have had great luck with the skill of this audiologist at getting a good earmold in the past. I'm not so sure about Westone Labs though.
