A question.... yes I know it's my "right" to have a copy of my medical records. That's not the issue.
Keep in mind one thing. I'm not feeling very confrontational so I need a simple solution. I am not about to in guns blazin. I'm tired. I've had a hard year.
Here's the issue. My former neurologist is being a jerk. She let me go as a patient once she saw I was on Medicaid. No prior notice, nothing. So I requested my medical records personally. Twice. (in writing) She ignored those requests. I got VR to do it via a friend. :neener: However, she only sent records for the year 2007. That...is it. This friend also goes to the same neuro so she is aware of this game we are playing. She outwitted us though by only sending 2007.
Now I want 2008 - 2010. I see she has a lot of boo-boo's in her records (oh yeah) and I'll decide when I get all of them how far I want to go in "correcting" the errors. Things like I am congentially deaf one month, then another month I'm deaf since 2 years of age. (no...13 months) And she said I had two cochlear implants.
Plus she referred to my son as an "interpeter" when he just happened to be there because we usually went to lunch. From then on she complained if I did not bring him along....WTH? I didn't know that I was supposed to. He was there to keep me company, not make her comfortable. He doesn't really sign so he can't be an interpreter. :huh1:
Anyway. Have any of you had doctors refuse to release any or all of your medical records? If so, what did you do??? I don't feel like doing anything crazy. Would filing a motion with the court work? I mean I don't know....ARGH. Actually I don't even know which court.... but I've done my share of motions these last two years. :eek1:

How fruster-ating. What a weird kind of game she's playing. do you have any friends who are attorneys? Could someone send a letter on attorney's stationery requesting the copies? I had a lawyer do that for my son's records-the lawyer was a complete stranger. I had drafted the letter and he actually had his sec'try do it up quickly, he signed it and I left with it to fax in. Had my records in a jiff. Lawyer didn't charge anything and looked very amused at the whole thing.

No I don't. I could go to Legal Aid but I'm not sure they do these kind of things. I will call Monday and ask.
There's a lot of things our county's Legal Aid cannot do for some reason. (lack of funds? lack of available attorneys?)

Ten years ago when I was having thyroid issues my endocrinologist left one practice and went to another; the former practice charged a "copy and transmit" fee for each page. Since she had forwarded her records to my GP, I had him forward her records and not have to pay for them; they are your records, you have a right to them.
