Yeah...I was really disappointed with the finale. REALLY disappointed. They said it wasn't going to be about purgatory or however you want to define that place. Why all the science and faith if you're going to end it in a purgatory of sorts? :eek1:

Best scene? The last shot of Jack closing his eye with Vincent.

Well Sherry, there were two separate stories. The whole series has always been character-driven. Big time. If you think about it, the whole series was in fact more than just one story per episode. The flashbacks, the flash-forwards, the flash-sideways contained stories of their own.

Spoiler alert:

The flash-sideway was a purgatory for people who haven't accepted the fact they have died. At the end, they all moved on. In the purgatory, there is no concept of time. It's timeless. It doesn't tell us when all of these happened.

The subtle hints of the fact that they were dead in the flash-sideways started oozing out a while ago when people started having flashbacks of the island. However, we weren't absolutely sure of it just yet until now. Because of all the people who were dead were showing up in the flash-sideways, I started to suspect everyone were dead and not moving on.

Everything on the island did happen. The Dharma, the smokey monster, Jacob, the plane crash, the survivors and everything. However, the mysteries, Jacob and the Man in Black were all red herrings. It was always about the characters, not the island.

On another note, it makes sense why Dharma came to the island. Jacob brought them to the island in hope of finding a way to kill the monster. That's why you see all of these fences to bar the monster from penetrating their territory.

To expect them to answer many questions rather than creating more questions, that's that I would expect of Ben. He is always seeking for answers that doesn't matter. He realized that at the end.

The title itself had nothing to do with the fact they were lost on an island, the characters were all unhappy and lost in their lives. In the end, they found themselves, accepted their deaths and moved on. Nothing else mattered.

The End.

Yes it was about the characters and not the island. I started to suspect various characters had died at various times in the sidelines, I don't know why. I didn't expect them to answer all my questions but it was quite cheesey, that ending. I guess Ben is outside until he wants to move on.

But where is Michael and Walt? And the rest of the cast?

Yes, The End. LOL.
